Congratulations on the passage of the New York same-sex marriage law!!!
New York has now become the sixth and largest state where same-sex couples can legally marry.

Having performed many commitment ceremonies over the past several years as a New York Justice of the Peace, it was always evident to me that same-sex couples lead the married life in practice, every day in stark similarity to heterosexual couples.. The bond is just as sacred, and held with the utmost sincerity. They can repeat each other's stories verbatum and know how their sigificant other would react in any situation.They do love truly and accept each other not just for who they are, but also for who they are not. Because true love transcends the body and resides within our hearts, it sees hetereosexual and homosexual love as one in the same.

The passing of the New York Same-sex Marriage law means something unique to the majority if the people it will directly affect. To some it means finally being able to take the next step in the logical order of progession in this thing we call love and to others it has brought parity to those whoe have been lobbying for this equality for many years. Regardless of how the passage of this law affects us personally, we should all revel in the simple fact that what were once referred to as commitment ceremonies are now given the befitting title of marriages because this is truly what everyday to the couple that lives within them.
